Facebook EB1 chances

Hi, I am planning to switch from Intel to Facebook. I have done a PhD in Electrical and Computer Eng from a top 10 school in US, working in Intel for 1.5 years, have around 170 citations, strong recommendation letters, 1 granted patent, few news articles citing my research and couple of invited talks. While Facebook isn't guaranteeing anything about their GC strategy, apparently the immigration firm FB works with (BAL) is pretty infamous for letting people apply in EB1. It would be helpful if I can get some initial pointers from this forum.

What do you mean by “BAL is infamous for letting people apply in EB1A” ? Your credentials look quite good , and an EB1B looks very achievable. EB1A is always tricky but can be attempted too

Sorry for the confusing wordings. What I have "heard" is they only let people go for EB1 only if the profile is exceptional as their budget only allows 1 filing per candidate (either EB1 or EB2, not both) and naturally they go with the pessimistic way.

EB1A is pretty tough with your credentials. EB1B is very much achievable.

Why don't you do a self-petition EB1A? My Roommate did that, his profile sounded similar to yours and was approved. Worth a shot. Granted you need to shell out some money.

When was it approved?

This was in 2010. EB1 was current back then and he got it approved in less than 6-8 months.

Do you have offer from FB? Could you describe your fb interview?

90% chance for EB1b I would say. Start the process with BAL as early as possible, and be prepared for the procrastination from BAL side.

Did you get it done @OP?
