The job interview cases expect you to be innovative, elegant, creative, moonshot even. The cases are hard and you have to prepare by studying across many topics. Yet many employees post about working on small features that don’t have any impact. Or feeling like a small cog in a big wheel. Are the Facebook, Google, Uber #case #interviews like the actual job? Yes or no?
Very few people work on new innovative.. technically challenging projects ...... Most people work on reducing tech debt or fixing/modifying existing things..
I think working in Google Assistant is exciting, much more son than my interviews.
What’s exciting about it?
We are making the star trek computer! It's fun to make a change and be able to utilize it at home on a daily basis. It's fun to tell my son I taught google something. It's fun to see people talk about changes I've helped with make on websites and blogs.
They’re not. The job itself is boring and uninspirational. At least at Facebook.
All big companies are like this lol
