The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Hi All, Today I got an offer approved Facebook. I don't know the location but it's mostly going to be London or Ireland. I am unsure about the compensation I should ask with them. Currently I am in Amsterdam and my monthly take home is around 5k Euros and I've around hai 15% bonus and some RSUs at the end. My compensation goes like this 75k + 15% bonus and performance based RSUs. I've highly skill immigration visa so my 30% salary is exempted from tax. #facebook #salary #offer #tech
Current TC and YOE?
Answered below :)
Congrats on getting an offer from FB
Congratulations!! Can I DM you for your interview experience?
Of course
If you get to choose the location, go for London. Dublin is way overpriced for what you get. Your booking.com salary is pretty good. Without the 30% ruling, you will make less than your current salary after tax (not counting the RSUs). The main difference in compensation will be in the RSUs, but Facebook will withhold around half of your RSUs to pay taxes in Ireland. Amsterdam is a lovely city. London is also great. Dublin is not for everybody, so do your research on the cost of housing and the weather. If your idea of fun is going to the pub, then you might enjoy Dublin. Do ask about the oncall policy for your team. My team does not pay extra for being oncall.
Thank you for your answer. Today I received call from recruiter and he told me that most probably my location is London. I am little unsure on salary part how much should I expect from them?
They say salary depends on the interview performance, so it is hard to say. Seems like you'll get the offer any day now, so just wait. Since you will lose the 30% ruling, I don't think you'll see a big improvement in compensation. Better check the online calculators to get an estimation of your take-home salary. If you are currently a SWE at booking.com, be aware that EE is not SWE at FB. If your goal is to become SWE at FB, you will have to re-interview, as if you were an external candidate. And if you pass the SWE interview, you will not get the same number RSUs that SWEs get. You will retain the RSUs you were given as EE (which is less). Just something to keep in mind. FB has many engineering positions that are not SWE and the compensation is lower.
Thank you for your answer. Are you also award of salary range of EE?
OP, what was the offer in the end?
Enterprise engineer?
Yes!! Looks like it's moving to EE as they don't have any SE vacancy.
