Am I racist if I don’t want to marry a Southeast Asian?
I’ve got a few phone screens lined up already for SDE positions at various companies in Seattle area. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of SDE positions in Seattl at FB that are in areas of expertise for me, but I got an email about an internal solutions engineer position. However I’m not feeling super inclined to take the interview as I’d rather do real software engineering working on large scale systems. Any thoughts on this position? Is there a lower bar for ISEs? Are promotions harder to come by? Is this like a Solutions Architect pre-sales position? The “internal” part throws me off. I’ll probably talk to the recruiter but wanted to get some thoughts on the role.
Yeah you have to bow and lick the boots of any SWEs that you pass in the building.
They get to do some fun projects based on their assessment of customer needs. They basically tell teams "we're going to build x on your code." They travel a lot. Their code is variable since they build out solutions that other teams have to maintain.
What?
