If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
I got reached out to by a recruiter to interview for a a specialized VR team at Facebook. I have no practical experience in the field and only 1 YOE overall. Because it’s a specialized team I would interview for the team directly and not go through FBs generic SWE process and boot camp. My recruiter seemed to suggest that they wouldn’t care about my lack of VR experience but I think it would be a better experience to go through the boot camp and have more flexibility, esp as a younger engineer. What do you guys think? 1 YOE TC: 190k
Not answering your question directly but relevant bit of info : the vr interview is likely to be a little easier than the fb loop.
Thanks that’s actually pretty helpful. I expected it to be the other way around. I just don’t know if I want to go into this team and miss out on the bootcamp
You would still at least go through basic bootcamp (get a mentor, get familiar with tools, etc etc) . I wonder if you can ask them to go through more weeks just to get exposure though, and to be able to grow your career better after a year if the role isn't a great fit.
