Hello, I've recently received an offer from Facebook London. I feel the offer is not good in terms of monetary value as well as Designation, wanted your suggestions for the same. TC: 115k ( 80 base + 35 stocks ) GBP YOE: 6.5 Current TC: 80k USD in Bangalore, India The recruiter told me that I will be eligible for promotion in 6 months. Also, promotion from E5 to E6 takes lot of time and patience. I intend to stay in Facebook for 3-4 years and want at least one promotion during this period. ==== UPDATE ==== I've decided to go ahead with the offer. Have asked my recruiter for detailed reasoning behind not offering E5. The reasoning sounded solid and I agree to it. Joining because in India, my salary doesn't leave me with much options, plus the amount of work I have to do to earn 80k varies between 10-15 hours a day. Plus the condition of Bangalore is degrading day by day and I can't imagine living in such a mess for the next 10 years. #offer #career #tech
BTW. That’s there default offer for E4. Not sure if they would agree for E5 at 6.5 yoe. Moreover they say it’s based on interview feedback.
I have my interview a day after tomorrow, can I DM you for some query ?
Sure, feel free
The offer is standard but with your India TC, does not make sense. UK: 50% taxes on RSU Also you will fall under 40% tax bracket so effectively you will get 65% of cash and 50% of RSU. also there are capital gain taxes. I think you are just on the edge of E5, why to waste 2 3 years for promo when you can retry after some time for E5.

Lol, how many times I have heard that. The recruiters lie with that. It is in your future manager to decide that, not the recruiter. You start from zero when join the company, there is not extra points for interview performance to get a promotion. If you perform at E5 the first half, then you will have the promo
Your India salary looks quite good. Didn’t know India pays that much to 6 yr exp ppl.
Comp in India has increased drastically. I am 2.5 years experienced and I get 80k USD total comp in Bangalore
Considering your India TC I would wait and reapply for E5. Being eligible for promo essentially means unlike in places like Google, Facebook doesn’t put a de facto delay between promotions through a need for sustained performance. It’s about impact. However it’s very hard to have impact in 6 months after a promo, let alone after joining considering time for boot camp, ramp up and everything else. Even if you’re a rockstar.
Hey, could you please give the salary breakdown of yours in Nutanix?
Do you want to return to India after fb? Then, you could probably wait.
Not planning to return, but settle in UK and get citizenship in 10 years down the line
@OP you can get ILR in 5 years and then citizenship in another 1 year. Why would you want to get it in 10 years? 🤔
i will have the interview in the coming week. Can I DM you?
Sure, feel free
Hey, i Also got similar offer for E4 (80+35) and have an offer from MS in India (80k usd) . In monetary terms it doesn't look too attractive considering the taxes and cost of living in London
Considering that Microsoft has almost next to none refreshers - I would strongly recommend not to take it if you have Fb offer.
Yes I have also heard that. Also how does l61 at MS compared with E4 at FB. I guess E4 is equal to l62
OP - When did you receive the offer. My recruiter tells me that they are delaying all the offers by 2 weeks at least amid corona.
