Facebook London Vs Microsoft India
Looking for an advise to choose between Facebook London (E4) vs Microsoft India (Level 62). Not really looking at TC point of view. I'm looking only from a career perspective. I hear FB London isn't that great when compared with MPK office in tech wise. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Choosing FB London requires a lot of changes, and I'm concerned if that's the worth from career perspective? FB compensation, 78k£ + 10% bonus + 180k$ / 4 years + 15k£ Sign on MS compensation, 30LPA + 6LPA bonus + 6LPA sign on bonus + 90k$ / 4 years YOE : 7.5 yrs
I like the FB London offices but people seem pretty unhappy due to being so disconnected from team mates in MPK and SEA. Might not be so bad if your entire product is based in London.
If FB London is not great as compared to mpk what do you think how's IDC compared to Redmond? Gt real.. one thing is sure fb will be more demanding and more learning as well. Even if TC doesn't matter to you.. it does on blind
I would suggest to try Google L4/5 that can beat Microsoft offer easily. Also, try to negotiate L63 at Microsoft. A friend just did with experience 5yrs. If nothing is changing and these are only options, choose FB and then switch back to Google. At least peers would be better in FB London as compared MS Hyderabad
Re FB London, it is smaller than MPK, but also much faster growing, there’s somewhere between the same and more career growth opportunity for most engineering levels in London than at the other offices

I think it wouldn't be much different from work perspective. Both being offshore teams would mean that chances of getting to work on high impact projects is less. I would suggest talking to respective managers and see which work sounds more interesting to you. Or else optimize for future opportunities where fb could have upper hand.
Slightly off topic, but how did you interview for Microsoft from US? Or for FB in London?
Microsoft India is a shit show if you want to really prioritise learning. The tech in Microsoft is shit too, extremely mediocre people are landing offers and the management is the worst I’ve ever seen. I was there for a year and couldn’t take the shit anymore so moved out. Also, if you’re really looking at Microsoft, with 7.5 yoe you can and should target L63.
