I got an offer for an Engineering Manager M1 at Facebook and tend to accept it. I was wondering how "difficult"/realistic it is to get to promoted at FB to a M2 position? Or let me rephrase my question: Is there a reliable career path for an M1 to become a M2 (if performance and feedbacks are great) or are there too many aspects which can not be influenced by myself? (e.g. there must be a fitting open position for a M2 in your org). Thanks #career #promotion
If TC is good, I don't see how you don't take the FB offer. Even if you never get promoted again.
Sure TC is great but it is not about the money:) opportunity to grow is also very important (e.g. managing directs vs managers, shaping the future of a whole org etc)
Curious how long did it take for you to hear back after the on-site? Did they tell you why it was m1 and not m2 or were you expecting m1 from the start?
A few days, but about a week until I got the offer as they needed to find a fitting team
That’s great, congrats! It’s been 2 weeks since my inside and haven’t heard back yet.
Current job? Yoe? Current tc? New tc?
Current company , yoe old TC and new TC please.
What was the offer? Tc? Stock per year?
L7 amazon = M1 facebook
It’s true comp-wise, but L7 SDM in A has much larger scope.
scope doesnt matter. the two levels are equivalent (i.e. moving between the companies, the roles would map to each other).
