Naw. It’s not all terrible & you mostly only hear about that here on blind. I’ve been here 2 years @ E5 (infra) and have yet to see or hear of someone in my org getting pip’d. I’m sure it happens, just not often.
what about dreadfully average engineers who make a decent amount of mistakes? can you let the team carry you there?

If you are good, you don’t have to worry. If you are bad, don’t join. For me amazon was vacation compared to fb. I do enjoy a lot here. There is no arbitrary quota. If everyone in the team is good (which is not the case most often), everyone is rewarded.
Correction to all PIP culture Its not about ," if you are good" Because they don't hire you if you are not good. It's about, "are you willing to work more hours " If you are read to work more hours and take a hit on WLB then you are safe and not to worry about PIP at fb or Amazon lol I heard at amazon even if there is a conflict can cost you a PIP ;)
