Hi! Might be interviewing for a FB PM role soon. If anyone can help me out with these thoughts: * Leveling -- how much do incoming levels matter, and what level should one angle for with any particular experience/skills? * Culture -- are PMs smart? * Working remotely -- how receptive do FB teams tend to be re: working from home sometimes, etc.? * Working hours -- do folks "work from the bus"? Or are all hours in-office?

PM quality at Facebook really varies since they have really seasoned PMs who are very good and many inexperienced ones who don't know what they are doing. Burnout is common but that often depends on what product you're on and the culture of that group.
Agree with oooooops. Flexibility is team dependent. Form good and deep partnerships in order to manage meetings. Levels matter for comp, but no one knows what your level is - I personally don’t think that’s a great practice. PMs are “smart”, rest is team effectiveness. And a greater challenge now, there are lots of cross-functional dependencies on other PMs and teams to coordinate priorities.
Oh. And what about actually having something real to focus on? As opposed to being the PM for what color the buy button is?

If you plan to work from home a lot, it’s hard to be successful as PM. You have to be present at least 1st half to get hold on things. Facebook is not super chill for anyone.
Levels matter for compensation, outside of that they actually secret. The bar for PM is pretty high at FB. Most PMs are "smart". Whether they are effective in their roles depends on team fit and personality. Is acceptable to work from home on Wednesdays (most teams), outside of that it'd be difficult to be a good PM not being around The PM role is meeting heavy, but generally speaking, you set your own hours (it's not a 40 hour job)
