Hi metamates. I have a friend whose Facebook account (which he uses as the primary source of advertising and his companies website as well) was hijacked and now linked to someone in Vietnam. They’ve changed email, password, phone, etc. Any guidance on what he can do to get it back? #meta #facebook
Didn’t your friend setup 2FA on his Facebook account?
I have no idea. He’s on the east coast and I’m in the South Bay and haven’t seen him in person for a few years. He received an alert email saying his email has been changed. But the “this was me” isn’t working on it and his accounts have “disappeared”. I don’t see them either nor does anyone in his family. Both his personal and work accounts just suddenly went bye bye.
You need to ask a Meta employee you’re actually friends with to help your friend out. Meta employees have a service that allows for retrieval of hacked accounts, but the policy is that you only use it for real life friends, not strangers you meet on the internet.
Bunnylol oops
Ask a meta employee who knows you to file a ticket for you. I’ve done it for friends and takes 1-2 days but e success
When your email on your fb account is changed an email is sent that has a link to recover
Prove that it was his. In some way that meta considers valid. Surprised that they allowed this and not blocked a hacker from doing this based on location etc.
