Hey y'all Starting bootcamp at Facebook in a couple weeks as a E5 Senior Frontend Engineer. Currently enjoying some time off, making music and banging my head against Kubernetes. Any tips for finding a good team during bootcamp? I enjoy working on internal tools or full (whole ass) stack development including frontend / backend / CI / deployment orchestration. I'm coming from an SRE / Developer Experience Tooling role into what I assume mainly frontend work. #bootcamp
Is that~ $330k TC for E5? I wonder if it's worth interviewing with fb if I already make that much as a new SDE3. I have a good team and good wlb at amzn
Oops, sorry OP. I meant to reply to your previous comment. Did not mean to hijack your question. Apologies
Didn’t mean to hijack your hijack but any suggestions on how to crack SDE3 quickly? Your Yoe? For your question, you could get a larger offer from FB than 330. Could be 450, look on levels. So might worth the shot. But if you just got to SDE3, maybe they will down you to E4? Ask recruiter to make sure it’s for E5 before interviewing
Hi OP, quite off topic but how Walters your interviews? How many frontend specific rounds? Was there any system design?
Hey, 2 of the 6 rounds were frontend coding specific. API design and general Big O questions. 1 round was focused on frontend system design from the client layer up to server / L5.
Thanks! How much of it was CSS stuff?
Hey! I have my onsite in a few weeks for the same position (E5 frontend). I saw you mentioned your 190 / 450 offer in another reply, was that for permanent remote or in one of their offices once everyone returns?
Remote until safe to relocate to Menlo Park. They're planning July 2021 but who knows. Best of luck with your onsite!
Hey, can't answer your Q about the FB boot camp, but it's nice to see a fellow FE eng on blind for once. What did you do for your interview prep?
Not OP, but hi from another FE engineer!
Hi from another FE engineer
If you want to be a real MVP, go work on infra tools!
What languages/tech stack are you’ll using these days? Java? C++? For infra.
@HousetopHm Might be a dumb question but i'm going to be starting my bootcamp soon. When looking at the Facebook jobs page are infra team only under the Infrastructure org or are the mixed in Engineering and other orgs (referring to the "area of work" tag)
how was you interview, was it LC ?
Yoe?
4 years
Could you shed some light on earning E5 with 4yoe? Seems super hard
