Facebook commute option. Uber pool.. Fully paid?

Recruiter told me that employees can take Uber pool from Eastside to Seattle and will be covered by FB. Is this correct? Is there a limit on how many miles or $, each way you can get this benefit? There must be a catch else I would guess everyone would take Uber pool and won't drive to work.

There doesn’t have to be a catch. They might be trying to reduce traffic and help employees

Apple CaptnCook Jan 25, 2018

This might be a preliminary step to getting busses

Facebook bLrU82 Jan 25, 2018

it's taxable

Apple CaptnCook Jan 25, 2018

You have to pay tax on the cost of the ride?

Facebook bLrU82 Jan 25, 2018

yes, the cost of the ride is added to your paycheck/w2

Facebook Faceb00k Jan 25, 2018

Awesome benefit

Uber mvcguj Jan 25, 2018

I agree. All companies should offer this.

@Uber lol

Uber Ty56 Jan 25, 2018

It's true. Free Uber Pool service for FB Seattle. It's a substitute for shuttles

Facebook Faceb00k Jan 25, 2018

But still plenty of shuttles that FB offers

Microsoft Oui OP Jan 25, 2018

Can you take an Uber pool to and from the shuttle stop as well?

Facebook Subarray Jan 25, 2018

No

Microsoft , Jan 25, 2018

I believe you can only take it only during certain reasonable times of day

Facebook Subarray Jan 25, 2018

That’s correct

Facebook spcmnspff Jan 26, 2018

No longer. We just changed this to any time of the day.

Uber PM_ME_CODE Jan 25, 2018

FB employees get a better uber perk than uber employees.

Uber Pskskdkdkd Jan 26, 2018

I think netflix has this too. At least ours is adhoc

Netflix ricewater Jan 26, 2018

Yes, we have it and uber pool is not required. You can even take UberXL

Facebook ALCE53 Jan 25, 2018

I think it is weekly Lyft promo code?

Facebook n00b4ever Jan 27, 2018

Only if shuttle late more than 20 min I think

Facebook spcmnspff Jan 26, 2018

This is a perk in Facebook Seattle. There are no time limits but the cost of one way will be covered to a max of $15. Anything more will have to come from your personal credit card. The only restrictions are that the start or end point needs to be FB office. This is an amazing benefit. Plus if you take into account parking in the area, the daily value you get is greater than just $15 one way.

Facebook Guest15 Jan 27, 2018

The main catch is that it’s taxable. ie your taxable income goes up. So if you’re riding from the eastside, let’s estimate $15~18 a ride. If you take Uber pool daily, then that adds up fast.

Microsoft Oui OP Jan 27, 2018

I just checked and Uber pool rates from Redmond and Sammamish are anywhere from 35-40$ each way. 15$ seems not much if you are commuting from Eastside unless you are in Bellevue right next to the exits. The 15$ only works if you live in Seattle

Facebook Pbuj80 Jan 27, 2018

1. Does not cover all the east side towns. Redmond is half covered. 2. It's Uber pool so you share the ride, it normally takes more time in peak hours to pick/drop other riders.
