Recruiter from Facebook reached out last year. I said I would be interviewing early next year (aka now). Now that I reached out to them, they say they're looking for more senior people (my work ex is 3.5 years). Has Facebook's policy on hiring changed? I'm confused how I was interesting but no longer am.
I don’t know the answer but let me speculate please. FB asks exact leetcode questions in the interview and they judge people by how fast they can vomit the memorized code. That indicates Senior ppl wont have a chance compared to more junior guys who I heard solve all FB problems at least twice. This is how they ended up with tons of junior ppl and now the solution is stop hiring em lol.

For some reason FB hires very few junior people. They prefer to hire new grads (preferably returning interns) or senior people. I don't know why, but that's the culture :-(

I've been told FB doesn't hire industry E3s, only new grads. And apparently there's a freeze on E4s at the moment but I know some specializations have openings (e.g. Android pipeline).
Same happened with me last week. Had a phone interview scheduled. And then that got cancelled because of this.

Two years ago, they told me that they had too many junior people and it was leading to a lack of quality and discipline with no one to help the junior engineers grow. They wanted to bring in a bunch of senior engineers to fix that.

Does that imply I am no longer of interest to all of Facebook? Wouldn't it make sense to find a role somewhere in Facebook if there is an interested candidate?
Thats not how it works. I will have FB people chime in specifically for FB’s culture, but in general business needs shift all the time. Budgets may also be adjusted. Each recruiter typically handles a specific area, his/her team or org may not be looking for candidates at your exp level at this point in time. Recruiters dont really have incentive to pass you to other recruiters either, it doesnt really help his/her goal and they have truck load of ppl contacting them daily.
