I recently got an offer from Walmart Labs for a Staff Engineer role. Wondering how is the work culture at Walmart Labs, wlb, job stability, future opportunities. I am currently looking at jobs with better WLB (okay even if I get the same Tc) Current Tc: 400k Walmart Labs offer: 400k Yoe: 5 years Just evaluating whether its worth jumping the ship. Also walmart offer is a level bump (currently E5 at Fb)
I had similar thing. I wouldn't say do it unless it's for EM role.
Walmart Labs isn't destroying the soul of democracy.
Coming from the one who is destroying the soul of a person... oh the irony 🙃
JUUL is still around?
People go other way round. I would not leave FB for WMT.
Definitely the number is higher the other way (wmt to fb). But curious if the motivation is mainly career growth. I am definitely NOT looking at grow in my career (atleast for some time) Just interested in reducing my work hours.
My guess is , FB stock appreciation will account for the salary difference with others benefits at FB. WM is bad in that regard but definitely has better wlb . Like someone said, do it , if u get a management role not IC. Not worth it.
This must be a joke. If not, please don't do it. As an ex employee I've seen several of my former colleagues including myself get PTSD after working there. #***kWalmart
@m5275 Assuming from your comment that your team’s Wlb is terrible as well, have you observed similar PTSD issues across all engineering teams ?
Yes, I have. Walmart has one of the highest attrition rates
Why for same TC?
Walmart labs is a shitshow don't do that
400k for staff at walmart? Look at their vesting schedule. Stock is 60k/yr for 4 yrs, and it’s only vesting for 15k per year.
Staff at 5 yoe? 😅
Genuine question, who told you that it is a level up? Do you even know what you sacrificing to come out of tech company and throw yourself in non-tech retail company? I don’t believe you will be getting a complete 400K TC from first year and stocks vesting cycle is quite demotivating. Do not do switch, you will thank me later.
Delusion!
But why?
Heard walmart labs has better wlb. Job role also seems to align with my career interests. Also is a level bump (currently E5 at fb)
Wlb is not good my dude/dudette
