Facebook vs Uber offer

I got E4 offer from Uber and Facebook. Uber's TC is slightly higher than Facebook's. I like the work of the Uber team. For Facebook, I have to attend Bootcamp and then pick a team. Facebook: Pros: Brand name Benefits Cons: When I interviewed at FB, most of the interviewers mentioned about "rewriting" code. So, I wonder whether the problem they try to solve is interesting. So, I not sure if this will help me build my skills. (FB folks, please share your view) Uber: Pros: Work/Team looks interesting. Cons: Stock may tank (It is a risk which I think it's ok to take) Layoffs Commute to SF (I live in South Bay) I am confused between Facebook and Uber now. Please help me with your votes and reasons guys... #facebook #uber Facebook: 167K/360K/50K Uber: 163K/390K/50K

Are you able to get FB to increase their offer?

I think Facebook’s product and tech stack is older when compared with Uber. I will pick Uber if I were you. Plus stocks may go up

Rewriting code is common in all big companies, Uber also have plenty of those projects. It’s sometimes more challenging than building things from stretch.

I voted for fb. 3 reasons - 1) Commute is a big part of daily life and we often weigh it very lightly. 2) At fb you still have a chance to find a good team during the bootcamp. 3) Uber is at a stage somewhat like snap a couple years back. Draining money with no clear path to profitability. Whether they can turn it around, only future knows. That is a risk which in my opinion is greater than having a hard time at fb. I understand working at fb has its own cons. Mainly wlb gets screwed and folks getting piped more often. Although I think not all teams are that way.

If you are really inclined towards Uber, then ask them for Palo Alto office. You can possibly work from there 2-3 times a week. I know folks whose team is in SF but they are given that freedom to lower the commute. Also I would negotiate harder with Uber to get more stocks, to counter the risk of stock tanking more. TC for Uber has to be 10-20% more than fb, to make that move enticing. Just my thought. Decision lies with you.
