I have failed 3 on-site interviews. Amazon, NYC medical tech company, and now I just got results that I failed Microsoft. Feels especially bad that I thought I did well on them. From all these companies, it seems it either you get a perfect interview or you fail. How do you guys keep from getting burnt out? TC:~95k HCL YOE: 1.5
Do a mock interview with someone you know and get feedback from them. You might not have been highlighting something important during the interview. Or it might be just a bad day. It's pretty common to have false-positive results in the interview. Every one of us has been in that boat. Don't get discouraged.
What can I do to practice if I don’t know anyone else in the field to help me practice a Technical question?
Do you know why you failed? Like is it a knowledge/skill thing, cultural fit, behavioral?
No which is the worst part. Difficult to learn if I they’re “not allowed to give feedback”
I just passed an onsite after failing 5 over a few months, it will come just need keep assessing yourself and improving
The problem is you think you did well …
I got 17 rejects (phone screens + onsites) before I got a faang offer. I of course felt burned out in the middle of the process, at that time I decided to take a few days break before I resumed my job search and got back to LC. I might/might not learn something from every interview that I failed, at least I considered those as free mock interviews that indirectly helped me on getting this faang offer. Persistence is the key, keep trying and eventually you’ll get it 🙂
I needed to hear this. Seeing only successful posts discourages me but seeing other fail before succeeding helps me know it’s a process.
After months of grinding LC I flunked a screen because my coding still sucks. Adding sting to it, I later realized I got leveling mixed up and had been interviewing for a *downlevel* and still couldn’t get past screen. I know this is where I’m supposed to share a happy ending, but I don’t have one yet. Good luck to you!
