That's why it sucks living here. 1%'s or 5%'s thinking 200 sq ft per person is normal.
A tweet told me 800sqft per person is adequate.
To put it in perspective... In Texas, 800- 1000+ sqft /person is the norm. And if you make more than, umm, 170K/yr, typical house size is 4000+ sqft.
Southern living, y'all. 3500 sq ft house for 4 ppl. That being said, I grew up in a ~600 sq ft appartment, with 2 other people in there it, and it wasn't bad at all, either.
NYers be like 😢
Grew up in the DC area. 1250 sqft per person. Family of 4. House currently costs $800k in a great neighborhood. Two car garage. Currently, 350 sqft/person. Me and SO. LA. Rent is "very reasonable" $2000/month. Average area of the city. One parking space. Feels cramped. Used to live in Ohio. 1000 sqft/person. Me and roommate. $800/month. Very fun area of the city. One car garage. ....I miss my Ohio house. Cold doesnt matter when you never have to leave. California is fun but the housing situation is stupid.
3600 sqft / 9 people = 400 per person. Would like to increase that tho
1650sf, me wife 2 kids, small 4br SFH At least with kids, private space matter more than total SF after a point. I'd rather have the extra bedroom than a 3BR with more SF, both kids have their own room and I still have office space and a not-too-comfortable spare bed when we have overnight guests
San Francisco. 5 people, 1180 sqft == 236 sqft per person. Kids are 1, 2 1/2 and 6. Doesn’t feel squishy (yet)
