I have BS/MS degrees in math, CS, and stats, currently working as a DS. I think these two groups (or similar places) are some of my dream positions, either as Data Scientist or Research Scientist. I notice some job postings for Fitbit Research Scientist, and Apple Health DS don't require a PhD (though some say PhD preferred). How feasible is it to work at these two groups without a PhD? What if I worked on a relevant side project? More generally, how important is a PhD for doing data science/research-y work in health tech? #datascience
Not that important at all if you have the skill set they are looking for. Currently at MANGA as a principal applied scientist, and have very similar career track and educational background as yourself
Good to know. Are you in a health group? Mind if I DM you?
