Feedback about one of the Oracle database team in India

I joined Oracle India few months back. From what I have experienced so far, the work I was doing at IBM was much better in terms of structure, future release plans, senior leadership and even senior team members. In my current team, they have recently switched to agile mode and senior technical members also don't have much clue on how it works. Also, I was surprised they don't have concrete information on the release time lines. There are multiple spontaneous issues coming from one team or the other. The actual work takes a backseat and there are multiple spontaneous issues being solved. The plan for the current release features is not discussed. I haven't seen a SLD or a LLD yet in the few months time I have been here. It is all chaos. Since it was my first switch, I am experiencing it for the first time. The QA team is separate and no one has any idea on what is tested and what is not tested. In IBM, we had SLDs and LLDs discussed. The QA and development teams were a part of same team - so we had close collaboration. Every bug fix once delivered, was verified by QA and then the bug was closed. Here, when the fix is delivered, the bug is closed and I have no idea on whether it is being tested or not. We mostly rely on Dev testing here. There is learning in terms of code and architecture of the product but since there is no idea of what features are coming in the current release, I believe the learning is only restricted to the fixes I am delivering for the bugs raised. Also the features that are being lined up upto the next year were discussed at IBM. Here, I don't see any roadmap. Does a similar situation exist in other companies as well? Current TC: 34 lpa YOE: 5.5 years

IBM is highly structured and organized. You join other companies for higher TC

Yeah, one of the major factor was TC increase for me.

What was your previous TC?

Surprise surprise dealing with the same shit at Google Cloud (aka little Oracle)

IBM oracle-1 OP Apr 22, 2022

That is a surprise. I thought Google would be more organised in that way since it is a brand that every software Engineer want to join.

Google Cloud = Oracle. Sad but true.
