Fidelity target funds

Hi, I see only fidelity target funds for my 401k!! I don’t want to invest in them (looking to invest in VOO or VTI). What can I do? TC: 218

Not a lot if your employer doesn’t offer an alternative. If you are eligible for brokerage link, you can invest at whole market.

I requested for brokerage link account …. Now I transfer money from my 401k to that account and invest from there

See if Fidelity BrokerageLink is available in your 401k plan. Not all plans have it. Legally, the 401k is a trust sponsored by your employer, and they can setup rules to NOT allow the brokerage window, and to limit the investment options.

Lot of fidelity target funds do hold considerable amount of fidelity’s total market fund (which is VTI’s fidelity equivalent) plus some additional bonds as a diversified portfolio. You might want to look at historical returns for these target date funds vs VTI and I’d guess their returns aren’t too different.

If I had to guess Fidelitys target date funds are basically the same composition as VTI with some allocation to bonds depending on how far out the target date is. Not a big deal.

Quit and move funds out, and reapply later. seriously you can make more money investing wisely than working day to day. Ask what more can you achieve with your money in the long haul vs stagnate options and toiling away working
