Hi guys, I have a full time offer at Cigna . Have been contracting all this while at Fidelity . My H1b is approved and I am due to join in a couple of weeks . My manager at Fidelity recently offered me a full time position . Position : L6 Cigna offer : TC : 170k Current TC : 130k Fidelity Tc : not yet finalized (position L6) Should I go for Fidelity ? How is the H1b and GC process at Fidelity ?#workvisa #h1b
Fidelity has the better industry reputation, imo.
Seems like you need to tell fidelity cigna offer and you really want it - but they need to beat it Cigna is fine / but you know this team
Fidelity is private and profitable. This removes the uncertainty of public stock prices and cost cutting to meet the earnings per share. Huge demand for talented technologists and room to build a good career and move around different units. I think it makes sense to join the top firms in an industry. Fidelity fits the bill for that.
It depends on what type of position (Software Engineer, Data Science...) Fidelity should be able to match the offer for an L6 Data Scientist comfortably if you push them for it. Also, great WLB and work environment as mentioned above.
The position is for a Principal Software Engineer (L6) . I am pushing for a 150k base as I understand a lot of other components except bonus (like 401k , profit sharing ) takes time to get vested . Also do you think Fidelity are big on giving remote work ?
Definitely reasonable given the market. You might face some pushback from HR but you should go for it. Indeed, 401k & profit sharing take time to get vested. For remote, it really depends on your team/manager but Fidelity has been remote-friendly even before COVID, so they should be flexible.
Cigna is a great place to work, but comes with the pitfalls of being a publicly traded company with Wall St metrics that need to be shown, quarter over quarter. From what I've seen, HR seems to have their stuff relatively together for H1B sponsorship, and WLB is something that varies from team to team. Mine is particularly good, thankfully.
Agreed, work life is chill and company is doing great in it's quarterly reports. But OP has a visa issue, I don't think Fidelity is going to allow h1b transfer, so cigna will have to wait until Oct, when you get h1b in your hands
Seems like a much better idea to stay with a team you're already comfortable on and understand if you're on visa. Others have mentioned other reasons to stay already
As you are already in Fidelity, you should be the best person to take call whether to stay or go out 😊
Fidelity is good with visa sponsorships. I think the work-life balance is pretty good too as you might already know. Biggest difference are the benefits and a private company.
Fidelity I think is great company with great benefits 401k match so consider that when making final decision alongwith comfort level of staying in same team and earning more
