Final ask on negotiated Google offer

I have been going back and forth a few times with my recruiter on numbers for my L4 swe offer. They took into account two competing offers (Amazon, Microsoft) and presented me with a "final" offer. I have a call scheduled in the next few days, can I ask for a small bump in RSU and sign-on? I don't want to push too hard but previously I just showed them my other offers and waited for them to revise, so a total of 2 revisions so far. Heard about "final ask", and want to know if I can ask for 20% bump in RSU and 50k sign-on? #google #tc #comp #l4 Maybe more generally, can a candidate ask for a little more at the end "just because"? I know this may sound greedy af but I've dedicated 6+ months from prep to offer.. just want to get the best returns on my time investment. Base: 165k RSU: 300k Sign-on: 25k

You’ll have a chance if you have Fb offer. Google won’t care about Microsoft and Amazon offers because they believe people would not pick MS/Amazon over Google (which is fairly correct for the vast majority)

not feasible for me this time around :(

Lol

Numbers could certainly go higher but need a competing offer for that.

Can you bluff ?

I did they start asking proof

That seems like a good offer. How long did team matching took for you?

I’m really only asking if it is acceptable to ask the recruiter one last time to improve the offer. Without bluffing, competing offers, or other considerations. I don’t want to come off as rude/entitled in the call to accept the offer.

I was in a similar boat. I found the risk to reward diminishing so I didn’t ask further. Your mileage may vary

I don’t get it. You want the “best return on investment” but don’t want to rock the boat? I don’t know that there’s any way to get top of the line pay without rubbing a few people the wrong way along the way.

You sound very greedy

Indeed rainwater OP Feb 11, 2020

Trust me I am not. Took me a lot of years to get to my current position and really need the money. Life is expensive in tech centers :(

That applied to all candidates, not just you

It would give us a better perspective if we knew your yoe...

You can always ask. Max TC for normal L4 is 300k nowadays. You can move things around like more RSU vs more sign on. Remember, you need good interview performance *in addition to* compete offers to make Google pay you more
