Can we get a discussion going on some of the dumb decisions that we've made? Finance 102: Net Worth discussion really had me wondering why there was such a big gap among tech employees of similar age.
have 6 years experience but started my job with small companies and no stocks.. till last year. so I didn't earn much money in terms of RSUs
Same here. Did a lot of startups for a while before landing my first big tech job last year. Godspeed.
I invested a ton of time and money into a girlfriend I headed for nearly 6 years. No regrets, but damn I could be so much further ahead.
Sold my FB stock at ~$20. Oops.
GoPro stock. Rode the hype up, BELIEVED, didn't blink in Aug when it tanked, and now holding a 50%+ loss. fml I need a bail out.
Living Social and the Local Business. Maybe even the Fire Phone.
BOX has not been kind to me
Leased a BMW brand new right out of college ... That was $20k down the drain
Lol
same... 60k here at 20 working at dotcom... basically was a slave to.that car. if I invested that money would have been able to pay cash for house by now. also wasted tons of money on broke girlfriends... lesson learned... invest at least 50% before luxuries, you won't regret it later I promise you.
Invested a ton into the oil crisis this past February betting on a bottom....hasn't played out very well....
I bought into the lending club ipo and played it long because that's what you're supposed to do. Still waiting for that turd to recover so I can at least break even and quit investing altogether again.
Yeeesh.
Quitting investing would be a bad idea. Quitting high risk gambling like buying an Ipo would be adequate :)
