Hi, does anyone know a total compensation for Financial Analyst role at Google in HCOL (Bay area)? So, I am interviewing for FA role, and I believe it's the lowest level after Intern/FLDP, which requires 4+ YOE. The base salary range was 100k-150k. If I ask 140k for the base, how much bonus and RSU can I ask then? TC: 85k (underpaid) YOE: 5+ #finance #google
Jeezuz Christos finance folks are getting the short end of the stick
You think they’re getting the short end of the stick, look at accountants.
It’s not a finance company. To make big $$$ you need to be close to revenue. PE & IB is where finance makes bank. Sometimes way way more than FAANG
2019: Was just promoted to L4 Base: 119k 2020: Base: 136k 2021: Promoted to L5 in Oct'20 Base: 157k
For what role?
How many YOE needed for L4 and L5?
Financial Analyst, Google, Bay Area. Isn't that the question? Why would I answer for something else?
Exactly why that person is an accountant 😂😂
No Way that you get 200k for FA at that experience, more like 140k with 105k base
I must ask, if money is your concern, why do you want to work at a tech company if you are in Finance? My general advice would always be to go for most important role/contribute to the product that gets sold ie. If you’re in finance be in IB/PE front office, if you’re in consulting be a consultant, if you’re in tech be a SWE, that’s typically where you’ll get paid the most.
I also want WLB. And given my age (almost 30), I think that the IB/PE train has left already. Also, my ultimate goal is to transition to the SWE/Data Analyst role, and I think within tech companies it might be an opportunity if I network and build relationships with tech teams.
L3 will not get you to 140k base. No chance. More like 120k max if you're super strong. L4 maybe will get you 140k but highly doubt that
So, if I ask for 140k, then they will push it back to 120k? Is there a consequence for asking more, i.e. they won't negotiate and give offer to another candidate? Also, if they negotiate and reduce the base, can I ask for higher bonus and RSU? Ideally I'm aiming for 180-200k annually TC
If it’s L4, you’ll probably get in your target range for TC, even if base is like 130k. Bonus would be like 20-25k. Stock would be like 110k-130k / 4 years. 33% in the first year, so like 40k.
