It is a blessing…
Hey, I’m a 22 year old considering taking finasteride since I’ve lost a lot of hair. Heard some scary things about side effects despite research showing it’s safe. Wondering what people’s experiences were as Reddit is pretty biased about this. TC: ~200K
Lol don’t try! The side effects take sometime before it’s noticeable. My doc asked me not to take it. Just shave your head and build a fit body. After all it’s not like you take those meds for sometime and magically your hair fall stops. You’ll have to be on it forever.
Or may be wait until your baldness pattern shows up (may be a long time) and then get a transplant
I mean there’s no harm in trying right? If the side effects come, I’ll just drop it. Or if they’re minor, I’ll power through my 20s and drop it when hair doesn’t matter to me as much.
Even if it works w/out side effects your hair or finasteride will own a large chunk of real estate in your mind. Shave it not because you can grow a beard or get buff or look “better”, but if it’s bad shave it and forget about hair in general… worried about dating? Trust me after 25, no one even cares and you don’t want to be with someone because they like you for your hair It worked for me, but I stopped it because I was sick of thinking my hair 24/7
How long did you take it for?
Two years. Only side effect was watery sperm. I’m lucky that I look generally fine with a buzz cut, and that definitely made it easier to get to the point where I can say it doesn’t matter. Just use your insecurities as one more thing that shapes your uniqueness and try to benefit from them my friend
Hair transplant
Doc says that I need to be on fin for a transplant
Thanks for the feedback so far – really tough decision since I value my hair so much and incidence of side effects is so low. But at the same time, if anything doesn’t work, I’ll always blame the fin and could regret it.
I started taking it at 22 and haven’t had a proper erection since :/
Dang that’s kinda insane. Do you still take it? Have you visited any doctors?
you can take fin and simply get minor side effects that either taper off over time, or are livable enough that you accept them. PFS is likely a myth. libido is psychological in nature, and lots of guys go on fin, don’t exercise daily, etc, and then years later come off of it, older and less youthful, thinking that oh their libido was destroyed, when it was never supported well in the first place. bottom line: fin is not as dangerous as people would have you think. you have to try it yourself to know how you feel. and i would recommend it. watch haircafe on youtube, particularly his videos on fin
> PFS is likely a myth. I thought the same thing when I went on finasteride. 6 months in, my p*nis went numb practically overnight. 6 months off the drug and there’s been little to no improvement. I’d give just about anything for it to be psychological, but it sadly just doesn’t make sense.
Take brand name Propecia. Not the generic. It’s very expensive but worth it. Pair it with generic minoxidil and you will have good results, I promise you. If you really want your hair to grow, add a regimen of raw organic broccoli twice a week
The only side effects of Propecia are hair growth and super sonic sperm
What was it Elon Musk did? In pictures of him 20 years ago he looks older than he does now
Hair transplant and finasteride, gotta stop it fro. Falling out before you move it around.
Why not shave it all and grow a beard? No side effects that way.
Not easy like you see in movies. All those shaved heads have round faces. Imagine having a sharp face with a bald head 😓
Adam Silver, is that you
