Hey dining community of blind, we just got back from Chicago, and thanks for all the thoughts on my previous post about alinea! It was certainly a fun experience, and one of the first places I’ve been to where the *experience* was worthwhile! On its own, the food itself was very good, but I’ve also had better. Alinea certainly focuses quite a bit on the experiential coolness. So, anyway, we’re looking to plan a weekend trip in the near future to SoCal (the 3 weeks around Labor Day weekend are in play), and looking for excellent fine dining choices where we can have amazing 2+ hour meals. If you have any favorites, please add info about it in the comments. N/Naka was on our list but it looks like getting reservations will be very hard. Tc: 620k

No, don’t go here. Great views but decent food at best. If you’re in Dtla maybe go here for drinks.
Yeah, that place has cool views but not the best food.
Osteria Mozza
Chi Spacca is better

N/soto (n/naka's sister restaurant), bicyclette (upstairs is more expensive), bavel, girl & the goat (unless you've been to the Chicago one), Felix, bestia (it gets loud and busy though)
Thanks! I’ve actually been to la girl and the goat, before! Thanks for the recs! If you could only pick one of those, which would you pick? We want a minimum ambience threshold (no hole in the wall), but beyond it, food quality rules all!
Oh man tough question! I really enjoyed N/soto. Bavel is beautiful inside but for that price I personally would rather have Japanese food than Mediterranean. I have not been to bicyclette but my friends have said it's great french food. Bestia is very popular. But don't order the pizza there. The bone marrow, beef tartare, and rib eye are so good. Tip: try to go with 4-5 people so you can try more dishes. I would go to n/soto or bicyclette (esp bc I have not been yet). Also, where are you coming from? If SF, ya'll have some amazing food up there lol.
Nobu
Mid
What’s mid?
LAVO West Hollywood (WeHo), BOA Steakhouse (across the street), Beauty and Essex Hollywood, Katsuya, Nobu, so many. Location helps.
I don’t actually know yet where we’ll stay, but we’ll have a car so can go anywhere. Quality of food > distance
Those are a few good suggestions, I have dined there myself. Distance isn't issue, time in traffic will be. 5 miles can be 50 minutes~ 10 miles can be 10 minutes.😉
Vespertine
Vesper tone appears closed to the public outside of private events unfortunately. Although I want to say they were pretty hard to find reservations in anyway.
Yeah you need the right connections, that's what I heard

I don't really go to LA often, but Providence on Melrose Ave in Hollywood was pretty mind blowing.
Thanks! It’s a good suggestion but I’ve been to providence before, so looking to try new places!
Everything was over salted. Service was rude and abrupt, very disappointing for Michelin starred restaurant
Which other restaurants did you visit in Chicago?
