I'm being laid off on my 6th month of probation, just got the news so I'm not sure what happens next, I relocate to Spain to join Amazon, will they make me pay for the relocation?
I’m sorry to hear this! Do you know why this may have happened?
Manager told me that I didn't meet the expectations, that he was not convinced I fit Amz culture and my current team
That’s scary. Their culture is known to be awful - were they expecting you to stoop to their level? Either way. Chin up. I’m sure you will find something better soon
There’s no such thing as a “probation period”. There is only a period of time where documentation is collected so they can fire you.
You dodged a bullet. Consider yourself lucky
Did you receive any feedback on bad performance previously? If you're fired, Amazon won't ask for anything back.
Not really, I raised some concerns about feeling unproductive on some material I didn't fully understood (at the 4th month mark), to that he said that ot is normal at the beginning that I'll get the hang of it with time , after that he went silent until this morning
Amazon managers... I suggest to always be proactive about getting feedback and driving 1:1's to avoid getting blindsided. Amazon sucks anyways, you'll find something better!
I think what happened to OP is “Hire to Fire”
What do you mean?
My read - means might have been hired to fill some firing quota, fill out the bottom percentile.
Amazon loves this shit. Dragging people to another country just to pip them. Couldn’t they just spend a few extra minutes to find out more about this person? Oh wait. They need to meet their URA quota.
Don’t think so. If they want you to leave i don’t think they ask for anything back
