First 30, 60, 90 Days @ Amazon

I am joining Amazon in July as someone with 10+ years of experience in a non-tech role. What should I do to be successful in the first 30/60/90 days? I really want to hit the ground running. Long story short interviewed for L7 ended up at L6 with direct reports. Told I can get to L7 pretty easily once in since I have experience.

You are on track for L7 in 3-4 years. 😁

Not really sure about "get to L7 pretty easily" Here is my recommendation - BootCamp - Build your internal network - Sign up Mentorship program, you will get more insight information from someone who is not on your management chain. - Your 10+ years exp should be helpful but be ready to reset it.

Do you mean a coding boot camp? I know sql and how to build sas programs. So I have some coding knowledge, I’m just not a developer

Mean Amazon new hire bootcamp and some org had separate bootcamp. It will cover everything about being Amazonian, not just about coding. As L6, you will not have EA, so you still have to know every way in and out.

Just a heads up, the "getting to L7 easily" part is probably a lie. That's a classic thing recruiters say to make you join.

Yep. Very. Single. Firm. Does this, FANG or consulting bodyshop. Frankly, I tend to focus on TC rather than level when negotiating with a new firm. I’d rather be well paid than overworked/in over my head.
