hi, i am scheduled to have my first performance eval tomorrow at my company. i have been here for about 10 months. my pm knows i will be asking for a raise, just wanted some advice on how to go about this. TC - 75000 current title - SWE 1 yoe - 10months loc - san diego average entry level salary at my company is 70k. i have also recvd security clearance and for my company (dept of def contractor) that is a huge plus. any advice and as well how much compensation should I ask for? i am thinking about 90-95k. thanks
You can make 200k+ in DOD. Its about the role. Clearances have value.
The people making 200k+ in dod could be making 400k+ elsewhere working on more interesting things. Like I said...
Not everyone will make 400k. Sure its great to strive for the best. Be realistic too.

Get out of dod as quickly as you can. Your peers elsewhere are making six figures.
6 figures isnt shit by the way. New grads pull 200k+ at top tech companies. For industry hires you have to slave away and job hop to move up. Going from 80k to 200k could take a few years. Set that as a goal.
