First few months at Microsoft

What to expect within your first 2-3 months at Microsoft? Do you receive any Microsoft specific training/mentoring? TC: 260K YOE:8

No and no. I was a contractor turned full time so that probably contributed to my lack of training.

Lots of documents to read and presentations to watch but nothing super structured like at FB. Be prepared to feel useless. All I did that went to production my first 3 months was change a json configuration.

I found onboarding pretty shocking. Fought to get any training other than the legacy docs and mandatory security videos

I think it is universal that you will find outdated docs and/or no docs. That, plus the fact you will be starting remote, will certainly feel intimidating at first. That's normal, and expectations are lower, so if you stay motivated and try your best you will be able to show you are able to take on challenges and everything will end up going well.

Thanks that’s comforting!

A reorg. Lol I've had two within the first 4 months of joining, one involving a manager and a project change for the entire team (split into three), not a very good experience :( hope this doesn't happen to you! Other than this, lots of trainings, presentations, info/onboarding sessions, learnings, some simpler project work, etc etc. I was assigned an onboarding buddy, and he was very good! This was a good experience on the other hand.
