Fitness/sleep/health trackers

Hello Blind, I haven't looked into fitness trackers for a long time (have used the first Fitbit Charge many years ago for some time), but am curious as to what other people use now. I'm mostly interested in getting useful information about my sleep quality, heart measurements, and overall body condition, and how my body responds to routine changes. I was patiently waiting for Oura Ring Gen 3 for a few years since I believe it covers most of the things I would want to have access to. However, they moved to a subscription model with Gen 3, and paying $6 per month on top of the device cost is just too much for me. I see that other popular options are Garmin (which seems more suitable for professional athletes), Apple Watch, and Fitbit devices. Could you please share what you think is the best fitness tracker and why? Also added a generic poll with the most popular brands I know of in this market. TC: 205k #fitnesstracker

I like my oura gen 2 but the subscription is wack. Recommend against just on principal.

My thoughts exactly. My friend had Gen 2 and really enjoyed it. That's why I was interested in Gen 3 and waited for it for over a year. Their decision to move to a subscription-based model is a deal-breaker for me.

From a business perspective, the hardware-only model was a poor choice. But it was great for consumers. I had always eyed up getting an Oura, but being on my finger and hearing stories of crushing it during deadlifts was an immediate no go.

Apple watch + AutoSleep Track App (Paid App: $5 but no subscription) is the best combination

If you’re any sort of athlete or worried about sport performance, Whoop is one of the top options. It does a pretty damn good job at tracking vitals, sleep, and overall recovery. The subscription cost is really high, but it does cover the hardware cost. Note that their HW updates are slow. That being said, I’m constantly on the lookout for a better option. The insights and how they change your lifestyle last only a few months. After that, you realize that you should exercise, get good sleep, eat well, and don’t drink. Seriously, you won’t get too much more out of it. Also, I am not cardio-focused and that’s where Whoop focused. I could beat myself up with powerlifting, but the numbers make it look like I’m a big lazy slob. Whoop did acquire a strength-focused company, so hopefully they’ll make some updates on that side. Overall, the lifestyle changes are very positive, but I would have a hard time renewing my subscription. I could get an Apple Watch yearly for the same price.
