Wanted to replace my iPhone with one that has usb-c and cuz frankly it needs it. Pre-pre ordered like a good boy after their special reveal announcement, that’s been the same for 10 yrs now. They have my credit card my phone is totally picked out at that point, color and everything. Then woke up at 8am (thank f**k I’m not on the west coast) to pre-order. Why isn’t this automatic? Who knows. Their apple store app and website are down AF and can’t even load my pre-order. Software is not their forte, fine, you’ve only been doing this for 15yrs. Apple knew exactly when the load would come, and they took like an 8 hrs maintenance window to ‘get everything ready’. Sit there refreshing the stupid app for 20 mins knowing that if I don’t preorder it will be months before their artificially low supply will catch up to the meagre demand. By the time it worked, deliveries were out to October, so I begrudgingly take an appointment at their store for this am at the local mall. It was the same shit that’s been going on since 2010. 20 poor sheeple like myself waiting in line, and 20 Apple employees sitting around not helping anyone. This is definitely the old night club manager shtick where they keep people lined up outside an almost empty club to make it seem like something exciting and worth waiting for is happening inside. I finally make it around the corner and a sulky employee tells me it’s another 10 min from here. 15 min later, and about halfway past the desks of iPads I’m supposed to be tempted to buy I had had enough and walked out. I could see they’re keeping people waiting on purpose. If I can go on Amazon right now and get an iPhone 13 delivered to my house in 2 hrs no questions asked, why does it take a whole song and dance for each phone handed to a person at the store? They literally processed 20 people in line in about 35 min, and it only took 50 incels in identical apple shirts to do it. The whole thing was even more sad and anachronistic because the rest of the mall was dead empty which most malls are nowadays. So we were doing this whole performative marketing for exactly noone! I’ll be honest I was already holding my nose giving this company more money with their anti competitive practices, and refusing to support RCS just to make the android experience shittier. Using me as a marketing prop while I wait to hand them $1500 was just a step too far. It’s 2023 ffs. I’m gonna just use my work provided android for a while and then decide what to get. I only use my phone to read stuff and listen to podcasts anyway, I don’t need this shit. Does anyone wanna buy 3 pairs of airpod pros and an Apple Watch ultra lol!! DM me. Update: Apple first sent me a notification that if I didn’t pick up my phone by 9/30 they’d cancel my order. I was like perfect! The next day 10/1 they charged my CC. What a 🤡 show.

I mean I feel like I worked pretty hard for it not to mention the $1500 I was prepared to pay. This was a thing 15 years ago, by now it’s just sad they make their users do that just to make their overpriced gadgets appear more desirable.

The only thing logical about this post is that Apple is being an asshole for not even considering working with Google to make their messaging platforms interoperable. I can't even be in my family group chat with my iPhone because they all use RCS. So I'm the one who loses in this situation with an iPhone. Apple could easily fix the iMessage problem, but they refuse to like a crybaby.

Why? I get that we get the benefits of a closed ecosystem and a standard hardware to develop on, but that doesn't also come without cons you know. And idk about other androids but my family/friends Pixel phones are super nice from what I've seen. Why are apple employees so immature. It doesn't hurt us to be able to talk to RCS. It literally would make iPhone users lives better.

Because it’s 2023 and waiting a month for anything is not a thing, plus I did quite a bit of work to be able to hand apple $1500 today. I found the experience demeaning and the employees, well just like most retail employees — kinda sad. I only had to go to the store and waste my time because the app wouldn’t work. Poor one out for the apple SREs

Admittedly, I hadn’t been to one of these oh so special ‘launch’ events in years. I just assumed they fixed it post pandemic. There’s literally no excuse to just waste people’s time like this.
The hardware is super nice and having a closed ecosystem helps developers. I just think iPhone users are being tricked into believing they have the better devices no matter what. We can't even be in group chats with any friends or family that have Androids. Apple could easily fix it but they refuse why? Are they worried iMessage is the only thing holding their US users? WhatsApp is better anyway.
As a loyal iPhone user since their 1st gen device, and having a iPhone all around me, let me break your bubble, we don’t care about “better” device - that’s what you Android 🤖 obsess over. We just enjoy the phone and the ecosystem, with no hatred towards other devices or users or the need to justify our choices.
