I'm in the last 2 weeks of my focus plan. My otherwise micro managerial and borderline abusive manager has stopped checking in on me and does not respond to my messages for a long time. Feedbacks haven't been great so far. Does that mean a PIP is on its way ? Tc: 185 k Yoe: 10 months as PM #amazonpip #amazon
Yes
Are you an ex amazonian?
Thank you for the context, that's helpful
Yes
Ex amazonian?
Curious how things work for PMs in Amazon, what got you into the focus Plan?
Tried changing teams to get away from a micro manager, manager put me on focus
Ouch! Sorry to hear that
Dude, you're getting into PIP in 2 + 1 weeks. If you want time to find a new job, then take FMLA of 12 weeks. You'll also get paid 60% of base and your stocks (5%) will vest. Then take the severance and GTFO of Amazon
It should be short term disability since I'm less than 1 year at amazon. Any idea how to get that?
oh crap, right, FMLA not applicable. Check with DLS about your options. Talk to your manager about taking all your PTOs and leaves before PIP starts so that you can cool off before PIP. Then it's your choice whether to take PIP or take severance. You can take PIP and do the bare minimum to just not get fired. Keep job hunting in the meanwhile. This way you get to stretch your tenure. If by any means you can stretch it to a year, then take FMLA
Honestly I want my focus to get extended since my h1b was picked this year. Hence the question :)
How do you know you're in focus and when the end date is? Sounds like you don't like the manager but there must be some level of trust between you if they gave you this info. Mgr can extend focus, but if they've stopped providing feedback its likely they've already aligned with skip and hr on pivot. Best of luck.
The manager informed me and shared the focus plan and timelines. That is just an org level practice
Interesting. Never heard of that. Who is your org's s-team leader?
Bruh you should’ve already been interviewing and have offers if you haven’t already
Yes
