Gas in Canada is currently 2.35 CAD/Liter. That is 7 USD/Gallon. Highest car insurance rates. Highest housing prices(compared to income) Expensive groceries. Worst climate most times of the year.(including Raincover) Worst healthcare for working people as wait times are way too high. Average rent in Vancouver is 2300 CAD a month for 1 bedroom apartment. Average salaries here are anywhere between 50k to 100k for majority of Canada. Socialist and woke government who doesn't care about it's own people. There are only two industries in Canada, immigration and housing, rest are all dead. This country is doomed. Staying in the US is better option. I came here in May 2020 due to H1B issues and now want a way back to US by any means possible.
well, if Canada sucks and the US won’t issue us green cards (H1B life sucks, admit it) what’s the next best thing OP
Netherlands
Move to Europe
Why are you in Vancouver, Toronto is better
You're kidding right?
Yes I am
Your experience is very typical OP. There are not many positives living in Canada.
Everyone knows that but ppl are evaluating wether it’s worth going back home or go to Canada .
What if my home is Canada?
You still can move out of Canada on TN visa.
I loved Canada and Toronto - beautiful place, and beautiful people. Then again I did move from the UK so probably not the same as other immigrants.
Where do all British live in GTA?
I was downtown - but most of the Brits I knew lived out in the burbs. Because selling your house in the UK gave you 2CAD to the pound you have a nice deposit for the bigger houses in the nicer areas. I never hanged out with other brits because there were plenty of new people to speak to.
Free universal healthcare is great on paper, but with an insane immigration target for cheap $, you're adding a lot of stress onto the healthcare system. Take getting an MRI for example, it takes about a year to get a MRI appointment and diagnosis.
As a Brit that lived in Toronto on a PR - 3 months for me and my wife to have a free health care in Ontario. I was able to get free health care, we went to the hospital no charge, doctors (and really good ones), and my wife was able to have a midwife through out the pregnancy (in the UK this costs £5k roughly to have the same midewife throughout the pregnancy) all for free - whilst we were living there on a PR it was awesome. From what my friends and colleagues have said it was pretty good.
Awesome Op Thank you for doing a wonderful job in promoting a country. So folks lesson learned - Canada doesn’t want you and pls n sorry - we ain’t that nice. We sent Ryan Reynolds’s saying that to the world. If U didn’t listen to him - listen to the tech guy.
Forget about immigrants, today it seems like Canada doesn't even want Canadians. They only want the rich money launderers globally to invest in housing there.
R u in bad situation bro ? What you think != what everyone else thinks
Op is suggesting like immigrants have a choice 🤣🤣
We always have choices, just need to explore other options is all I want to say.
Car insurance isn't about the country, it's about the state/province. Québec for example has car insurance around a third the price of Ontario for males over 25. Also, why tf do you go to Vancouver and complain about cost, it's literally the most expensive city in Canada.
Well Quebec has different issues. The tax rate is much higher and you are forced to learn French. The weather is not that great either and salaries are much lower than Vancouver.
@axp8982 The tax rate in Quebec for top earners is about the same as California, which is high, yes. Salaries are very similar to Vancouver for top positions, but indeed otherwise lower. The weather is fine, honestly. Moved here from one of the best climates in the world, and really the thing is you've gotta get good winter gear and limit car use in the winter, and you'll be fine. As far as French, yeah you should probably learn it. It's not as hard as it seems.
Hmm
