I do tech screens at Google. AMA
I just joined the TDP program in January. Honestly AT&T wasn't my 1st choice but I had to take it due to the terrible job market. 1. My eventual goal is to get into a big tech company such as Google, Meta, Apple, etc. How good does AT&T look on my resume to recruiters? Do recruiters from big tech look down on AT&T on your resume? 2. How many people from AT&T eventually move on to big tech companies (percentage wise)? If you know someone who has, can you share their experience and how they were able to make the most of it here? 3. How much can I really develop and learn here? I'm noticing that there are A LOT of incompetent people here from top to bottom. Honestly the sudden forced relocation to one of the 4 hubs is super concerning. On top of that everything seems disorganized and chaotic here #att #tech #bigtech #apple #FAANG #meta #facebook #google #recruiters #recentgrad #entrylevel
Maybe not look down but I don't think it would stand out. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll be chances to keep upping your company 'prestige'
Hey, I currently have an Amazon L4 offer at Sunnyvale's Lab126 office. Do you think I should pivot from AT&T? Do you recommend this given the layoffs that are happening?
AT&T does not stand out. But the projects you do there might.
I was in TDP program. I got lucky and found myself in teams with amazing projects - DS and MLE. It really sucked pay wise. But I switched after 1.5 years to a startup. With a ~40% pay increase. It is really not bad. Find a good project and team. Make sure the project benefits you in long term. Don’t listen to the AD, they are sweet people but lack knowledge about the skills required for career growth outside of ATT. So do your own research and find the best team. Only thing I hated about the program was unnecessary group meetings, social events and shit. I avoided mostly all of them.
