Most of the workplaces are forcing return to office. M&T Bank is also trying to force employees to return to office. Will the employers fire people if they resist to return to office? I’m okay to go into office but may not have presence every week due to personal reasons. TC: 150K
Resist
More places will RTO going forward and yes I think noncompliance will be used as grounds for dismissal. That being said, I think that allowances for WFH will be more common overall than prior to the ‘vid.
They can let anyone go for any reason without disclosing it. In this market we have so little leverage so I'd chew it up for a while.
Keep quiet and go to office. Stop complaining
Leeek deez noughtts obedient employee
Thanks for your input andy
Hybrid?
Yes. It’s Hybrid. I’m planning to move to a different location to be with my wife and I was thinking I would travel to my office once in every 2-3 weeks, but feared that it’s not gonna work.
Should Discuss with your manager and work out the best way forward for both of you.
Unless your job requires it such as lab work, hardware testing, or other roles that requires in person collaboration/white boarding, otherwise it’s a waste of time. I have to spend a bit more time commuting and chit chatting when I see people, instead of just focusing on work with no one around. That’s just me. I work better when no one is around and I can just focus to be more productive.
Anyone who had not been promised 100% remote in writing should stfu and return to office or quit and join a fully remote job. Stop with the whining.
Shush Bootlicker
Imagine being incompetent enough to be unable to negotiate an 100% remote with your manager that you come to Blind and whine about others being boitlickers. Show your bravery to your work and manager lol.
Yes, and I don’t care to go back. I just won’t comply and start looking immediately. Personally, I think attrition due to resigning as a result of RTO should qualify for severance or unemployment benefits. I’ll be remote for the rest of my career, and quite frankly, I don’t see any reason to come back to the office when I go work for another company that doesn’t pull this type of stunt. TC: 90K, fully remote forever
If you get fired due to refusal to return to Office, can you still qualify for Unemployment?
If you were offered fully remote in writing you probably get severance and unemployment. If you just went remote without approval, then maybe not. IANAL
Maybe but you will be a target if they need to trim for sure
