I have friends at Ford and I worked with Ford as a client. People seem to be stressed with deadline up their but .. I am currently Interviewing at Ford and expect to get Manager position. (Currently IC at Microsoft) With strange coincidence, I saw post today of person (who deleted post in couple hours) about how bad it is at Ford. People getting PIPed left and right. Huge bureaucracy, crazy politics. What do you think ? Should I jump the ship if I get offer? TC : 250k

At that TC, you are likely interviewing for an LL4 position, which is Senior Manager. Most employees are stretched too thinly across many projects, which explains the stress about deadlines. Getting PIP’d is difficult and doesn’t happen often enough in my opinion. Yes, there are bureaucratic processes and difficult politics. At LL4, dealing with those things will be your job for most of your time. You should be looking forward to that if you choose to take the job. Whether or not you should jump is a comparative question. How are things at MS for you? How many reports?
0 reports. Had 3 full time employees in sprint team under me. But that project ended. Now I am just an IC.. doing random things...trying to show value.

Honestly ford doesn’t really do much PIP-style stuff. I will say your experience will likely depend highly on which area you’re working in. Like any big company, there are good pockets and bad ones. Bureaucracy is definitely rampant. WLB is terrific. If you’re a full time employee it’s hard to get fired unless they do layoffs.

I feel like we may have no idea how much PIP stuff Ford does… “smart redesign” was for the LL6+s and not GSRs… the layoff scythe may be coming for GSRs next under the disguise of PIPs😭
Even I was surprised when I saw that “Ford PIP” notification. Ford doesnt have PIP culture. We have yearly reviews and they categorize it as Top Achiever, Achiever and low achiever. In any team it’s 10% TA, 89% Achiever and very very very rarely they give out Low achiever. I think 1 or 2 in an organization gets LA. Last year I worked 5hrs a week and my supervisor said that he couldn’t give me TA due to 10% quota.

The exit from cars was never actually explained. Just 'we no make cars in america anymore k bye' then they opened the trap door and Hacket was gone. They never really explained how only making them for other markets was going to improve profitability. We were still selling a lot of fusions for example and it wasn't exactly a fresh car anymore.
