'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
Anyone know if and how to get out of ford and to Waymo or Google’s driving projects? Is it “allowed” now that we’re in a partnership to use Google’s cloud? The pay and room for salary growth at ford is so poor compared to Google and Waymo… which is why I’m trying to make this jump. Also sick of how not flexible my managers are with their demands on being in the office. (We have been ‘piloting’ working in the office for 4 months) it seems as if Google + Waymo offer more flexibility in this regard. Just saw news about the new Pittsburgh Waymo office https://techcrunch.com/2021/07/22/waymo-to-open-offices-in-pittsburgh-an-av-tech-hub/ and it sounds like it would be nice to spend some time in Pittsburgh. 5 YoE SWE $90k
Doesn’t matter if you work at Ford, the process to join is going to be the same 1. Get a referral (optional) 2. Apply for a role 3. Interview 4. Join
What about non compete clauses? To get buy-out/severance packages (from auto companies) during layoffs I’m pretty sure you sign saying you won’t go to work at a competing company.
Yes, severance packages are meant to pay you for the duration of your non-compete. Even then, the enforceability of non-compete is a little vague In usual scenario, you refuse your buyout/severance, then negotiate a signing bonus with new company to offset that loss.
Highly recommended. I'm usually pretty cynical but Waymo may be the next $T dollar company.
Can confirm. The SF development at the moment is just insane. Can’t say too much, but the performance improvements compared to the previous vehicles in Arizona is astronomical. Definitely very bullish
I'm bullish but more cautious. I believe there are significant risks (some of which are nicely expressed in the aurora ipo deck). With that being said, I am paying cash for taxes on each and every share. @paused, what team are you on?
Feel free to dm if interested in opportunities with waymo in Pittsburgh.
Is there opportunity for non-eng in Pitt?
Not right now AFAIK. Maybe later as office grows.
The Ford partnership has nothing to do with Waymo. Also, moving to a partner company is never blocked in the first place.
Okay. I wasn’t sure. It’s not really talked about internally. Lowkey I’m also wondering if the Ford people on the teams working with Google employees will unionize like how these steel workers did here: https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/23/22590357/google-pittsburgh-contractors-hcl-union-steelworkers > IT contractor HCL Technologies voted to unionize, saying that even though they worked alongside Google employees, they didn’t receive the same benefits.
Internally at Google is this relationship Google has with Ford called a “partnership”? Or do you use a different set of words to describe ford’s + Google’s relationship?
