Is there an established procedure for requesting a review of your performance rating through HR? I began my tenure at AWS in August 2022 and, after completing a 90-day introductory period, I was assigned full accounts in December. Initially, I was informed that I wouldn’t receive a Forte rating for that year due to insufficient data post-ramp, which was understandable. Fast forward to 2023, AWS announced layoffs at the end of May, and I was given a 60-day window to find a position internally. Successfully, I secured a transfer to Amazon Business at the last moment in July, backed by positive reviews from several senior leaders within my AWS cohort. My new supervisor, however, was on leave, advising me to wait until his return in August. Upon his return on August 8, 2023, I was given another 90-day introductory plan and assigned tasks typical of an L4 role for the ramp-up period. When the Forte evaluation period arrived, I was surprised to receive a “does not meet expectations” rating, assessed against the standards for an L6 role. I inquired with my supervisor whether my performance at AWS had been considered in this evaluation. His response indicated that he had not received any feedback from my previous supervisors. This was despite documentation in Ivy stating that it was his responsibility to seek feedback from my former managers. Notably, before transitioning to my new role, there were multiple endorsements from L7 and L6 managers, all highly praising my work and expressing their willingness to rehire me if possible. Furthermore, I questioned why my initial period at AWS was not eligible for a rating, whereas my initial months at Amazon Business were considered for evaluation. My supervisor did not provide a clear answer. Given these circumstances, is it possible for HR to reconsider my performance rating? Additionally, I suspect I am now under closer scrutiny and in Focus, as suggested by recent communications and requests, which complicates my situation further, especially with potential opportunities to return to AWS based on previous leadership endorsements.
Amazon doubled the PIP quota for 2024. So lots of people, whether deserved or not, are being ushered into the pip clip. Also, usually once you receive a bad Forte rating it’s an indicator that you have been or will be on Focus. My advice would be to assume that the clock is ticking and to start interviewing elsewhere as soon as possible.

Forte doesn’t matter. What matters is your OV rating. That’s what counts. You must have been rated LE in that but sadly at amazon, managers don’t share the actual rating as per company policy. There is no formal process to appeal a forte Based on what you say, you are definitely in focus and on the path to pivot There is a formal pivot appeal process but that only be invoked after you fail the pivot plan
The forte "exceedes / needs improvement / meets high bar" is a less granular version of your OV
