i think the policy could have better headlines but in rural America my family started out with land simply because we were white. Affirmative Action helps white folks get into UCLA and other universities where Asians would make up the majority if it wasn't for affirmative action. I think programs based on skin color or race should be eliminated.

No, the loans were not predatory lending, they were government backed fraudulent lending. Banks take on the downside risk of a mortgage. The reason they were leveraged so much is because people bet that the govt would effectively bail those loans out, which they did.
This will just inflate the house prices and these people will have to pay a bigger mortgage.
