I left my cushy 650k job and joined a startup beginning 2022 (for 150k) Things i should have known looking back 1. Always keep 30% of money in cash (forget about generating Income on this) 2. Even with deep conviction dont put more than 20% of your money in single stocks. 3. If you trade options you need to right both in timing and direction. My 10x wins are wiped my 100 small bets. 4. We are still young dont lose hope. I have around ~2% in the current seed stage startup (10mil raised in seed). I see small signs of pmf. Should i go back to big tech or give it another 2 years. (big tech comp might be 500-700) ? edit 1: - Most money is lost in cash secured puts on NVIDIA, Google, HOOD, META, Uber in 2022. - Silver lining: Im liking to work hard again.
I never dream of “working” its just a way to get money so i can enjoy elsewhere
What are other ways of enjoyment you've found? Honestly once I did all other things that I enjoy, I keep coming back to work because doing challenging work with smart people does bring me joy.
I agree with Meta, I reached FIRE and got bored after getting laid off from a 300k job working 5 hours a week, even travelling etc. I got tired of traveling even though I was doing 5 star hotels and business class flights. I ended up just staying in my hotel room playing virtual Sudoku or chess which I found intellectually stimulating. I see “working” as the equivalent of playing virtual sudoku or chess except I get paid super well for it without digging into my savings/investments so why not? Obviously for the right price and the right work environment, but I’m working for the joy not the salary
Robinhood 650k cushy job?

GME calls and HOOD RSUs I bet

How do you invest in startups?
I was assuming their equity was from working at the startup. Otherwise, you invest in a startup by give money to a startup in exchange for equity…
What did you with options?
I will go skiiii
