I have a verbal offer from Opendoor for 400k TC - haven't negotiated. My current TC at FB E5 level is around 530k. (Btw, when you calculate TC do you only include RSUs and salary? That's all I included.) I want to leave FB to go somewhere that I can have more of a leadership role without having to do the rat race to E6 or deal with red tape. Finally, I'd like to join a company that I can join for a while and grow as it grows. I'm not sure about the Opendoor culture because some engineers I talked to during the interview process seemed obviously burnt out. I also talked to a friend who used to work there and he said OD will become like Amazon soon culture wise and that seems to be the story on blind also. Because it seems like an operations heavy company, it also seems like it would have a lot more red tape. I'm curious about people who were previously at Facebook who made the move to Opendoor - how do you think the culture and wlb compares? (Also, this role would be remote if that makes a difference culture wise)
Was able to negotiate up the offer but not by that much. Ended up rejecting the offer. Golden handcuffs got me again.
Did you get a counter at Facebook? If so how much
OP, what was the highest offer that OD made? Was this for a Sr role?
👀👀
Did you accept their offer?
Glad you did not take their offer. They are following Zillow failure.

Is being in the Bay Area worth the taxes?
Feel free to pay 100k+ each year the privilege of working at opendoor :)
I kind of expect the stock to be negotiable up 100k at least. And I also expect the stock to gain in value more than fb. Which would lead to higher pay. Also I suspect it's easier to get promoted at opendoor bc how difficult it is to get promoted at FB.
Those are a lot of maybes but good luck!
