In the process of trying to make a career switch. I plan on learning through some YouTube tutorials and free resources to build personal projects to showcase on my resume. I'm contemplating focusing on data analytics vs front end dev. What area of focus would be good to start in and have the opportunity to keep learning and have career progression for more money? 1. Front end Dev - Looking to learn HTML, CSS, JS, React, Angular, Node. I can see this progressing into back-end development and full stack development in a career path. Are these in really high demand with companies using Wordpress/Squarespace and shifting into mobile apps? 2. Data Science - Looking to learn Python, R, Tableau, SQL, Excel. Probably need to start off as a data analyst and work my way up to a DS title. These roles seem like a nice-to-have so not sure about the demand, teams I have worked in the past usually have someone pulling data and making any tables if they have free time. I would need to find teams that have a need for a dedicated DS and need these skills vs having a developer hack together a quick dashboard
Frontend is notoriously the biggest dead end niche. Just look at salary ranges on Levels.fyi.
Focus on what you enjoy more, plenty of money in both fields
