My two cents. After NVIDIA’s Woodstock and George Hotz’s (who used to be one AMD’s major champions) AMD FUD post on X, it seems like the gap between NVIDIA and AMD is even wider or widening even more. It’s not clear if AMD will ever catch up and may only be used for some minor scenarios like hyperscalers using for diversifications. I work in ML and using AMD GPUs seem like a huge waste of time and money right now.
“Friendship ended with AMD. SMCI is my new best friend” - NVDA
The answer is the flipside of why it went up like crazy.. take it ez
I bought AMD shares at 10 and sold them at 20. I thought I sold at the top
I bought at 30 but very little just 20k, even holding til now :(
$20k is pretty good size for a single stock tbh
Price to earnings. AMD was overvalued. Same as how NVIDIA was getting slammed before ChatGPT arrived, and even then the stock didn't really climb until Meta panic bought GPUs. It's all P/E.
Not enough innovation
Nvda stuck a giant middle finger to everyone in their conference and people started to take notice
My guess is more people are realizing that Nvidia will continue to remain in a much better position and end up increasing their dominance over AMD leading to some rotation from AMD to NVDA. That and the fact that AMD fundamentals and stock price seem too detached.
Their software sucks and the leadership does not do enough. Lisa is great but similar to Intel - they need some real software folks there.
Look at the P/E. How is that sustainable at >300?
AI AI AI AI!!!
It lags behind Blackwell. Nowadays only forward P/E is useful.
