I am im a huge dilemma. I got a full time Software Engineer offer from EBSCO Information Services that I accepted two days ago. But, I got an ft offer today from Xactly Corp where I am interning right now. How bad does it look if I say no to EBSCO right after accepting their offer?
Probably other can suggest better but my say is think what you want to do.. compare both jobs then you may say i found something that is more compelling.. Here i am not talking about package coz 5k or 7k is just gonna be a number what is more important is you shouldnt feel that you should have done otherwise
Pick the company that is the best fit, pay, unless there is a very substantial difference is not nearly as important than how happy you are at work. In this very competitive environment, I don't think it's that big a deal to renegotiate on an offer.
i dont know how ebsco will be. it seems its a great fit. On the other hand, i enjoyed working with Xactly. I am so stressing out.
Companies can lay off people at any point. Similarly you can reject the company at any time. Love your work and don't worry about what a random manager at a company may think. Do what makes you happy. It's an open market and it is at-will employment. That clause bleeds both ways.
go with where you want to live. a job is just a means to enjoy life.
definitely agree with this. if location is a big difference, it's not worth 2-4 years of your life just to avoid burning a few bridges
Call the hiring manager and have a chat. Be honest about why the second offer is causing you conflict. If they help you find a good solution that's that is a manager you want to work for
The company names are right from the TV show silicon valley :-)
Maybe OP didn't want to name names.
Wtf kinda companies are those bro? Sounds super wack
Use it as a way to bargain
Do not follow this advice, ever.
Spoken like a woman.
give them a ridiculous target they can't meet. let them say no
imo it is bad - like it would definitely burn the bridge with EBSCO, there's not a good way to spin that. But that's not a career-ending move for you to make, either.
I dont like burning bridges. but i also like the idea of moving to denver instead of moving to north carolina
Look out for no. 1. If you're fine with never working at EBSCO again, renege, take the return offer, and don't look back
