Coming from a Java background. Want to get some resources that’ll help me quickly learn Ruby. Books, YouTube channels, Udemy courses, etc. TC 160
But why tho
Joined new company, backend is written in Ruby on Rails and I know nothing about it. Starting with Ruby first.
Thankfully ruby syntax and rails framework both have been made very intuitive, and favor convention over configuration ideology, follow any good resource and focus on the codebase I think it’ll be moderately easy to pick up. I did ruby years ago and it was a lovely language
Hey, learning ruby shouldn’t be a problem. It’s fairly simple. You might have some issues with rails. Try to know the syntax and do some small tasks in ruby first. Then go towards rails. Learn the file structure, that’s probably the most important thing. After that create some simple API and try to use a couple of famous gems e.g for authentication and other basic things. After that it’s all about practice
Youtube content will be outdated.... Don't remember exact course name but pluralsight helped me in getting started...
Look up books by Nate Berkopec. You will learn stuff you didnt know existed about ruby, rails, puma and sidekiq
