Debating between offers (final at Rippling, not at Addepar) at these two companies Which one’s better, particularly in terms of career growth and stock upside? I’m not good at maintaining a good WLB for myself. Where will the extra work I put in be more valued and hence result in a better career growth/projection? Blind reviews on Rippling is pretty low, and Addepar’s (potentially weirdly) high. Anyone has anything to chime in? Backend for both Yoe: 0 (only internships so far) Addepar: remote, 138k base + 40-50k options (negotiating) Rippling: remote, 150k + 60k
Do not join Rippling. I don’t know much about Addepar, but judging by Blind reviews, it’s easily better than Rippling.
Both pay more than Senior SWE at Veeva, go for either. Addepar has a mind numbing product though.
As an ex-finance major, I actually like their product. Thanks for the input
Addepar it seems like such a narrow market. Rippling is a platform play as they are targeting all operations software at a company. As for WLB it’s all about your manager. Have a call with your hiring manager to get a feel for if they are reasonable or not.
Managers at Rippling are great at lying about the company during sell calls. Ask very specific questions around WLB and look for inconsistencies
Addepar will definitely have a better work-life balance. I think rippling has a better chance of having a better liquidation event. The 'extra' work you put in will be more valued at rippling. My team at addepar would tell you to stop working so much if you were going over 40 hours consistently.
Could I pm you about addepar?
Hey! Can you refer me for a role at Addepar?
Heard a bunch of bad things about Rippling. It's not only about wlb.
Addepar appears to be a place that would make you love the job and become a better person.
Hope this is true. Do you have friends/ex-colleagues at addepar by any chance? Are interested in the company?
I would keep looking. Rippling is obviously a dumpster fire. I got an Addepar offer, but their assumption was the company had to get to like $10b in valuation for the TC numbers to look at all respectable (where respectable starts at ~$500k for senior SWE). I believe that was a 5x-ish gain which sounded very speculative as it also sounded like they were sort of out of ideas (the new idea is to launch a trading venue for rich people for illiquid assets like hedge fund LP interests https://addepar.com/blog/introducing-marketplace ).
Marketplace died lol
Ah good to know. What did they make all the marketplace engineers work on now or have they broken ties?
Joining as a new grad is pretty dangerous for rippling. A lot of the pip happen before 12 months. Then it’s hard to explain to the next company why you got fired before a year
I didn't hear anything about Marketplace dying. I just heard there wasn't any new development. Believe that the whole engineering team is still here, just spread across other teams.
Good to see these type of posts during this time
