I don't believe there's a quote, per-se but there is stack-ranking so if they need to let people go they chose that way. If you're asking because you're considering an offer here, I'd advise against it. The culture is extremely toxic and if you're on the West Coast you'll be working Pacific hours AND Korean hours. Also, there's a bunch of Amazon and Facebook employees here that have brought their performance-based nonstop-working model over and it's simply not healthy. The TC is good, but everything else is not.
Yes CPNG does have a PIP quota - it’s very similar to the bell curve fitting that’s done at Amazon. Worse still, there’s a lot of favoritism at play - so even if you work hard, but if a manager (anyone in the panel - not necessarily your own manager) ends up having a “subjective” bad impression about you, you will be downgraded irrespective of how you may have done. The culture is extremely cut-throat, and toxic, and everyone is almost always overworked and tired. US folks are more miserable than Korea due to odd hours and frequent priority shifts. Many recent manager hires are from Amazon and they bring along their toxic culture with them. They often talk of building things exactly the way they are at Amazon not realizing that the problem space is different. They do throw money at you but be prepared to be treated like shit in exchange. This is not a sustainable place at all.
It’s extremely toxic, you can DM for details. Just for your reference about toxicity I know someone who was let go after he took a break of three weeks to address family emergency.
Ya and they just dissolve the whole teams sometimes. Its extremely toxic culture which is just an extension of amazon. Pay is nice though.
