Should I marry a lazy girl?
She is a bootcamp grad and after almost 2 years at her first job she landed another job at a contracting company working as a fte contractor for a big tech company one of lyft/uber/airbnb/facebook through a contracting company. At this role she doubled her compensation from 50k to 110k. There are plans for her to return to an office in a hybrid wfh model. Another company she was interviewing with wants to extend her an offer. This company is an SF startup and she would be working remotely from Canada. This role might give her a compensation bump and also allow her to work remotely which she wants to continue doing. Has anybody quit their job shortly after starting to join new company? What do you guys recommend in this situation? EDIT: her role as a contractor is a full-time role through another company the likes of capco, capgemini. #tech #offer #negotiateoffer
Employment is at will, you don’t owe them anything. Give them the notice you would normally and let them decide how to handle it. Just make sure the offer is gold before you say anything.

Amazing suggestions by above blinders. I'd add one more thing, finalise before putting your papers down. Since she just joined this company they'd try a lot to lure her in and retain her. Make sure that the decision is final before resigning.
Have a start date set in stone before quitting.

Doesn’t matter it’s not looked at as well as being a non contractor in a smaller company. You have nothing to lose unless the way is much worse
It's a contract job. Everyone will understand leaving for a full time offer. She would not have had time to become essential and even then the chances of getting hired full time is basically none.

I just left a contract at a FAANG through a vendor company. It was a good contract and paid well but not as well as what I have now. If your wife was actually essential, they would offer her FTE. If not, just move on.
Yeah wait to see what the offer is and then make decisions based on offer, WLB, and job outlook. You owe a company nothing and you quitting 2weeks isn’t going to be a big deal. They might actually counter the offer (probably not). Either way in these times do what’s best for you not the employer. Oh and don’t tell the current company who the offer is from.
